Integrated design with unlimited possibilities for the future of business.
Integrated Product Portfolio
When Teknion began operations in the early 1980s, it did so with a single line – the Teknion Office System, or T/O/S. Today, the company offers a number of different panel-based, freestanding and desking systems, including District, Leverage, Transit and T/O/S. Marketplace, Ability and ie are Teknion’s freestanding systems offerings and Expansion Desking is the company’s desking line. Teknion offers two architectural or demountable wall products – Altos and Optos.
Teknion seating products range from stacking, lounge and general-use to task, wood and executive. Popular seating lines include Contessa, Savera, Amicus, Fitz, Marini, Visio, Volume, Zone, Aegis and Synapse. The company also offers a wide range of storage and filing for use inside and beyond the workstation, including Almanac, Ledger and the Universal Overhead. The Tables & Collaborative Spaces program features an array tables and complementary storage and work tools designed for boardrooms, meeting rooms, training rooms, café/lounge and dining areas. Complements – Teknion's Ergonomics & Accessories Program – is designed to promote healthy working postures and to organize and personalize the workspace.
Industry Design Awards
Teknion continues to earn many prestigious awards, the majority related to new product design and innovation. Within the past few years, many of the company’s new products – District, Marketplace, Expansion Desking, Fitz and Synapse – have won a host of international honors. Competitions in which Teknion has received awards include Best of NeoCon, Good Design, NeoCon Green Stars Awards for Environmental Excellence, Best of Canada, Best of Year, the Design Exchange, the FX International Interior Design Awards, iF product design award and the Innovation Awards.
Dealer Service Awards
The Office Furniture Dealers Alliance (OFDA) presented Teknion with a Silver award in 2008 and Bronze in 2009. Special recognition was earned for strong execution in top performance measurements as determined by dealers across North America. “OFDA congratulates Teknion on once again not only meeting the needs of their dealers, but exceeding them,” stated the OFDA Chairman. The year previous, Teknion earned four Dealers’ Choice Awards in the Product Lines, Training, Management and Technology categories.
Environmental Initiatives
In 2003, Teknion embarked on a strategic focus to pursue sustainable development. Our environmental program started small, with a desire to change our thinking about the way we design and manufacture our products. Today, sustainable development is part of our culture, embracing both corporate programs and the individual efforts of people on the production line. It is not a project. It is what we do.
Teknion continues to receive recognition for its ongoing environmental initiatives. At the Environment and Energy Conference (EECO 2007) in Toronto, Teknion was the recipient of a GLOBE Award for Environmental Excellence. In 2007, Teknion earned Gold in the annual Ontario Waste Minimization Awards and followed up in 2008 with Platinum – the highest honor – in the Business category. Also in 2008, the company received a Highly Commendable rating in the Sustainable Leadership Awards sponsored by CoreNet Global. In 2009, Teknion again earned several awards for its environmental efforts including: Sustainability Recognition Award from the University of Ottawa; CCME (Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment) Pollution Prevention Award; Evergreen Award for Environmental Stewardship from GSA (U.S. Government's General Services Administration) and a Bloom Award for the sustainable design of the Synapse Guest Chair.
