Centre Culturel Nelson Mandela by Jean-Pierre Lott Architecte fluidly integrates with its historic urban context

Takuji Shimmura... Mehr

PIERRE-PAUL BERNARD STADIUM

« Clouds of mist At the musky edge of the wood Shadows slip in » CONTEXTln 2016, the «Bordeaux Métropole» community of municipalities appointed K ARCHITECTURES to renovate the stadium’s track and grandstands, as well as to build a maintenance division and, above all, a new sport complex housing indoor practice halls, a dojo, a weight room, an administrative division and spaces of conviviality. © GUILLAUME AMAT © GUILLAUME AMAT © GUILLAUME AMAT For Karine Herman and Jérôme Sigwalt, Thouars Wood is a living myth. lt’s the representation of a utopia, that of a rustic ideal where mankind has regained the ability to live in symbiosis with the rest of the living world.... The boutique hotel in Paris, designed by Tremend

Paris, the world capital of fashion and style, has been charmed with its beauty since the time of great reconstruction in the 19th century. Campus VIDAL

The district of Les Arènes in Toulouse is organised around its transport hub and a public high school. The site is easily recognisable, with the presence of the “Cristal” building, commonly known as the “Barre des Arènes” block, which is 51.5 metres tall and 230 metres long, towering over the neighbouring buildings since its construction in 1961. Roland Halbe Roland Halbe The Campus Vidal is composed of the Vidal higher education college and a student housing project, Artemisia Toulouse. The location of the campus creates a forecourt directly connecting with public transport (train, metro, tram and bus). Sports Center Gilles Boutantin

Much like sports itself, sports facilities are always important sites of identification. Particularly in smaller towns like Cormeilles-en-Parisis, 17 km northeast of Paris, club sport plays a vital role in social life. The new sports center offers optimal training and competition conditions for local teams, amateur athletes and schools. With its silhouette, the design sets a striking mark, but nevertheless blends harmoniously into the loosely built residential area. This we could achieve by embedding the field and bleachers to keep the building at a moderate height. Well set bends modulate the length of the building and create an attractive, roofed entrance. Clever spatial references clearly arrange the dense program. The generously glazed e... Mehr

Collège D'Orlinde

The middle school on the outskirts of Bretenoux is situated off-street and its broad western front shapes a public square. The compact organisation of the single-story building is reminiscent of the regions medieval bastides. The surrounding cantilevered canopy made of dark carbonised wood protects the building from overheating by excessive solar radiation. This restrained, closed design contrasts with the generous, communicative interiors in which light-colored wood dominates. Dietrich Untertrifaller with phBa - architectes urbanistes The rooms are clearly arranged around a central access zone delimiting the individual functional areas for teaching, school life and general services. Public facilities such as the library, the restaura... Mehr

Lycée Evariste Galois

Demolish or renovate? This question often arises when it comes to the further development of school buildings from the 1970s. The senior high school Lycée Evariste Galois in the Paris metropolitan area no longer meets current requirements and is bursting at the seams due to strong demographic development. With a holistic environmental approach in mind, we decided together with our partner Panorama Architecture from Aix en Provence to restructure and expand. Based on the qualities of the existing, we reorganised the individual parts of the building and united them into a legible, communicative whole. Dietrich Untertrifaller The newly created green schoolyard forms the heart of the ensemble and connects the various functions. It...

OMA thinktank AMO realizes Off-White store in Paris with a feast of textures

Like the earlier work of OMA, the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, the Paris Off-White store is a feast of textures and materials. The store’s distinct different atmospheres are conceptualized into the three architectural characters of the courtyard, the gallery and the flea market. Benoit Florençon The CourtyardA semi-circular vestibule of corrugated glass welcomes visitors into a reinterpretation of the typical Parisian courtyard. The sober space makes a calm and slow shopping experience of the women’s collection. The walls and floors are clad with white travertine.  Benoit Florençon The GalleryOn the second floor a luminous space with high ceilings and large windows houses the men’s collection. A fo... Mehr
