Acrovyn® with post-consumer recycled content is the newest evolution of Construction Specialties’ Acrovyn® Wall Protection. CS launched the product line in 1969 to help hospital administrators with the seemingly endless cycle of hospital wall repair. Acrovyn quickly became known for its durability, cleanability and impact resistance. Since then, CS has continuously worked to improve the processes and materials used in its products.
Testing confirms that this iteration of Acrovyn possesses the same characteristics as the current offering yet consists of up to 50% post-consumer recycled content. Each sheet of Acrovyn® with post-consumer recycled content contains 130 plastic water bottles. The product became available spring 2024 on select woodgrains, brushed metals and sheet-based products such as wall panels and doors.
To reduce the embodied carbon of Acrovyn, we switched our resin to utilize post-consumer recycled content. This innovation allowed us to maintain performance characteristics while enhancing material health, leading to better outcomes for all.
